| While
there are many teams to play for in Minnesota, the
Eastside Banshees attract members with one distinct
quality, that being the straight up good fella. We
welcome all players, unless you'e some cocky stuck
up a-hole. Personal attitudes are the most important
to us and you'll find that your fellow player will
soon become a best friend.
The
history of the Eastside Banshees is as diverse as
its players. Our team includes an array of many different
backgrounds and occupations, including teachers, engineers,
construction folks, corporate management, president's
of companies, IT dorks, salesmen, military personnel,
along with many others.
It could be the sweet combined roots we owe to St.
Johns University (Soc's) and Minnesota State (Greaser's)
that has created such a fine crew of friendly bandits,
or we could simply be plain old good guys.
The past few years
have been extremely successful for the Banshees, finishing
the 1999, 2000 and 2001 seasons at the top of the
conference. Though 2003 was a down (rebuilding) year,
2004 once again resulted in a trememdously successful
season. Our tradition in winning goes beyond the years
of our last merger in 1988, and we look forward to
a great year in 2007.
As important
as it is to us to play extremely hard, we find the
camaraderie of rugby equally important. The Banshees
hold many social events throughout the year and travel
nationally to varied events. The St Patty's Day Tournament in Savannah, GA has become a favorite annual roadtrip.
The team also likes to
take in some international flair every 5 years or
so, traveling to England, Scotland, the Bahamas, and
most recently to Belgium and Amsterdam in Aug. 2000.
